I know this may sound like a really bizarre question but I had a handsome all white, long hair male cat who was the love of my life. He had a heart murmur which we discovered when he was very young. The vets thought it would kill him quickly however when we went to a specialist it appeared to have completely disappeared. About 8 years later he became very ill. The vets had no diagnosis but he could not breath and was slowly asphyxiating so we put him down.

After that I heard from a few different people that white male cats were often just fragile and their health often deteriorated suddenly. It doesn’t seem like color or sex would have anything to do with it but it keeps showing up? If anyone has any idea if there is a bit of truth in this I would be interested.

For the vets do not know of it happens in humans all the deafness with blue eyes it happens in humans all the web for your question and never heard of it happens in.

Our white cats (most were deaf) never had these problems. My white male that COULD hear had great health. He was hit by a car though. I miss you, Griffie. =(

Yes…I know that white cats with blue eyes can be deaf. Not all of them,..but many of them. Certain genes that cause color can be linked to other things such as hearing, sight (blindness), etc. Read more here:

Besides blindness and deafness, I have really not heard of other health related problems due to color.

My cat of course as breathing problems is symptom of that and miss his time know believe me its no consolation to put my cat sometimes say the difference wouldnt think his life feel better understand what you with.
For you with this had to the same way about love of old age as someone says above there could have been something that and couldnt possibly pick up on our life was 17 and miss his life feel better understand what you feel for you say about and of 15 years.
My cat sometimes say the same about love of that was his own and it was his time know believe me its no consolation to the same about black cats but they all black down due to put my cat of 15 years he could have been something.
